Microsuction Ear Wax Removal
No drops required, instant relief!

Pricing:
£80 - Ear Wax Removal for one or two ears
£80 - Ear Infection Clearance for one or two ears
£100 - Foreign Body Removal
£120 - Children's Ear Cleaning (4-10 years old)

All pricing is inclusive of an initial consultation and cleaning of both ears as standard - We have a duty of care to examine both ears and almost always there is wax to be cleared from both, even if you are only having issues with one.

As the name suggests, microsuction employs a combination of a surgical-grade microscope to look directly into the ear canal and a small sterile suction tube to gently clean excess wax from your ear canal.

Because we have a magnified view of your ear through the microscope, microsuction is a precise method of clearing wax within the ear canal and even allows us to clean the eardrum safely and effectively. It is generally considered painless and unlike syringing, there's no need for you to soften the wax beforehand with olive oil or sodium bicarbonate drops.

In contrast, syringing or irrigation, which uses pressurized water to flush out the wax does not always work with hard or impacted wax and may require multiple appointments over weeks to soften and clear. Furthermore, there are risks with syringing, such as infections and, in rare cases, damage to the sensitive structures of the ear. In light of these risks, the NHS stopped performing ear syringing or irrigation as a standard procedure.

Microsuction, however, is safe for people with a perforated eardrum or any other surgical history involving the ears! At The Ear Specialist we don’t ever use water! Microsuction is considered the gold standard in ear wax removal, as it is far safer and superior than syringing or irrigation.

We also offer microsuction ear wax removal for children as young as 4 years old. We have specialist paediatric training as well as all the necessary equipment to ensure a safe and stress-free experience for you and your child. The appointment time is double that of adults to ensure that we can build rapport with your child, explain the process and allow enough time to complete the procedure.

Ear Health Consultation
When you know it's not ear wax...

Pricing:
£80 - Ear Health Consultation

In some cases, you may have been informed there is no wax or infection in your ear(s) and are still experiencing concerns with muffled hearing, pressure, pain, tinnitus or maybe you just want an MOT of your ears as part of a general check up.

Our Ear Health Consultation consists of a thorough consultation with the clinician, examination of your ear canals and ear drums using a surgical microscope as well as a pressure test to assess the mechanical function of the ear drum and Eustachian tube. In some cases, we may even go on to test your hearing, if deemed necessary, at no extra cost (usually £60).

This consultation is useful in differential diagnosis and we may be able to assist with a management plan to clear the perceived blockage and/or generate a referral.

We also offer our Ear Health Consultation for children from 4 years old as a useful way of diagnosing 'Glue Ear'. We can offer appropriate management options and/or assist with a referral letter.

Hearing Tests
You get your eyes checked, why not your ears too?

Pricing:
£60 - Hearing Screening
£100 - Diagnostic Assessment

Please note: Both our hearing tests are only available for ages 19 and older. For children's hearing tests, please enquire for more information.

We utilise state of the art testing equipment and a specialised soundproof booth to accurately assess your hearing whether you're looking for a snap shot view of what tones you can (or can't) hear or a comprehensive analysis with a report on the diagnosis of your entire hearing system's abilities.

Our hearing screen is designed to quickly determine whether your hearing is functioning effectively across the core frequencies and tympanometry to assess that your ear drum and pressure system are working adequately. This is often a useful test as a benchmark of your hearing ability.

Our diagnostic hearing assessment includes so much more than just testing the quietest sounds you can hear. Due to the complexity of the hearing system and the many reasons that hearing loss can occur, we will perform a more in-depth evaluation through more advanced testing including wider frequency range, speech tests (Word Recognition and Speech-in-Noise), tympanometry and acoustic reflexes and provide you with a full report.

If you believe that you or someone you know may be experiencing hearing loss it is important to get it checked out by a professional as research suggests there is a strong link with the risk of developing dementia.

Hearing Aids
Life-changing technology

Pricing:
Starting from £2,000
including comprehensive aftercare & extended warranty

As an independent hearing aid provider, we are able to offer you a choice of the latest hearing aids from leading hearing aid manufacturers. Modern hearing aids don’t just make everything louder – they are sophisticated pieced of technology that make sound more distinct and clearer.

We will help you to select the right type of hearing aid for your needs taking into account your hearing loss, your listening environments and your budget.

The hearing aids are then programmed to specific frequencies (the prescription based on the results of your hearing test) and fine tuned for situations you have trouble hearing to allow you to hear clearly once again - whether you’re simply listening to the radio or having a conversation in a noisy restaurant.

Hearing aids work best when combined with the aftercare services from your audiologist. These services involve working with you to maintain the hearing aids in good order and adjust them when your hearing changes to ensure they are working optimally over the course of their lifespan, usually around 5 years. All hearing aids come with a 60 day money back guarantee.
